From November 2009, PF "Ergene" began to work on Breast Cancer Control Program, financed by Swiss Cooperation Office in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Project is focused on improving quality of life and medical care of women, it also envisages involving women to solving problem of breast health by their empowerment. But nevertheless, project is planning to involve members of families, especially husbands. Both men and women will receive the same information on prevention of cancer diseases and their early detection. In the framework of the program special attention will be given to support from husbands.
Project is an integral approach for early detection and treatment of breast cancer and includes 4 main objectives:
1. Increasing awareness of women on breast cancer and it’s prevention.
2. Early diagnostics of breast cancer by mobile clinic.
3. Determining diagnosis and conducting differential diagnostics (supporting a quality of diagnostics on secondary and tertiary levels).
4. Providing psycho-oncological and palliative care to women with breast cancer.
Project is implemented by non-governmental professional medical organization “Ergene” in collaboration with Ministry of Health of the KR, Department of Oncology and Radiology of Kyrgyz State Medical Academy, National Center of Oncology, Training Center of Family Medicine of Kyrgyz State Medical Institute of Continual Medical Education, Association of Family Doctors and Association of Oncologists.
External technical assistance is provided by National Cancer Institute (USA), Alliance on Cancer (Seattle), UICC, American non-governmental organization Resource & Policy Exchange, Inc. (RPX).
Project was designed on the base of Guidelines, elaborated by Breast Health Global Initiative.
